Marvin Brown
As the Oregon State Forester, Marvin Brown in brings extensive experience in forest policymaking at the state, national and international levels to the SFI Board. He has worked extensively as a professional forester in both the private and public sectors.
Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor's degree in forestry from the University of Missouri and a Master's degree in forestry from Southern Illinois University. Marvin and his wife, Pamela, reside in Salem, Oregon.

R. Thomas Buffenbarger
The son of an IAM member, Tom Buffenbarger assumed his first IAM leadership post in 1970, at age 20, when he was elected steward of his apprenticeship group at the General Electric jet engine group, IAM LL912, Evendale, Ohio.
Seven years later, Tom Buffenbarger was elected as a Business Representative for IAM District 34, Cincinnati. In 1980 he was appointed as an IAM Special Representative for the Great Lakes Territory and three years later became Administrative Assistant to the General Vice President for that territory.
Buffenbarger came to IAM Headquarters in 1986 to work in the IAM Organizing Department and two years later, was appointed Executive Assistant to the International President. He served in that position under International Presidents William Winpisinger and George Kourpias.
From 1991 to 1997 Buffenbarger served as IAM General Vice President at Headquarters, functioning as chief of staff of all Headquarters operations. He was elected to the office of International President in 1997. Born Dec., 1950. Tom and his wife, Linda, have two children.

Matthew Donegan
Matt Donegan is co-founder and co-president of Forest Capital Partners, a private landowner and manager of over 2 million acres of working forests in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Louisiana, Texas and Minnesota. Matt is a professional forester who studied forestry at the University of Florida before earning an MBA with concentrations in forest industries management and finance from the University of Tennessee. Earlier in his career, Matt worked as a forester and investment analyst at Georgia-Pacific Corporation, and as a portfolio officer at the Hancock Timber Resource Group. In addition to the Sustainable Forestry Board, Matt serves on the Boards of the National Alliance of Forest Owners, Oregon Business Council, Oregon Forest Resources Institute, Oregon Innovation Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, and on the National Council of the National Park Conservation Association. In 2008 he was appointed by Governor Ted Kulongoski to the Oregon Global Warming Commission.

Norm Christensen
Vice-Chairman
Norm Christensen is professor of ecology and dean emeritus at the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke University. Christensen is an authority on the management of forests, shrub lands, and wetlands. He has served on more than 25 national and regional panels and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and currently Vice-president of the Ecological Society of America and Chairman of the National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry. He resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

John Faraci
John Faraci is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of International Paper, the world's largest paper and forest products company with 2002 revenue of $25 billion and a rank of 64th among Fortune 500 companies. Faraci joined International Paper in 1974 and has held various financial, product management, planning and general management positions in the company's industrial packaging, consumer packaging, wood products and forest resources businesses. In 1995, he became chief executive officer and managing director of Carter Holt Harvey, a New Zealand forest products company that is majority-owned by International Paper. In 1999, Faraci returned from New Zealand to assume the corporate-level position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. He was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer in 2001, promoted to president in February 2003 and appointed to his current position in November 2003.

Rick R. Holley
Rick Holley was elected President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Plum Creek in 1994. Prior to assuming this role, he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 1985.
Holley began his career at General Electric Company in 1974, where he served in a variety of financial management positions. In 1983, he joined Burlington Northern, Inc. where he worked as Assistant Vice President, Corporate Audit. He held that position until joining Plum Creek in 1985.
He received a bachelor of science in accounting and business administration from San Jose State University. He also completed an advanced education program at Northwestern University.
In addition to serving on Plum Creek's board, Holley serves on various other boards, including the American Forest & Paper Association, the American Forest Foundation, the World Forestry Center and Children's Hospital Foundation in Seattle. He is also a member of the Visiting Committee of the University of Washington School of Medicine.

John Innes
Professor John Innes is the FRBC Chair of Forest Management at the University of British Columbia. He also holds the post of Director of International Programs in the Faculty of Forestry. He has a strong interest in forest extension and the continuing education of practicing foresters. His research concentrates on various aspects of sustainable forest management, with a strong emphasis on the trade-offs involved in balancing the environmental, economic and social aspects of forest management. He is also undertaking research on the potential impacts of climate change on forestry, and has a strong interest and research program on Chinese forestry. He is involved in a number of international research projects, and is Vice-President of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations.

Jerry McCollum
Jerry L. McCollum is a professional wildlife biologist, certified by The Wildlife Society. He holds AB and MS degrees from University of West Georgia. He currently serves as President and CEO of the Georgia Wildlife Federation.
Prior to his current position, Jerry served 17 years with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division. He served for his last 6 years as Assistant to the Director of the Wildlife Resources Division. In this role he supervised the Protected Plants Program, shared responsibility for the Nongame Wildlife Program, and initiated the Natural Heritage Inventory in Georgia in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy.
In June of 1987, Jerry took over the management of the Georgia Wildlife Federation, the states oldest and largest conservation organization. The Federation currently has more than 50,000 members, and an annual operating budget of approximately $2.1 million, and conducts a broad-based program of natural resources education and conservation. Jerry and his wife Terry live in Madison, Georgia.

Patrick J. Moore
Patrick J. Moore is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. Moore joined the former Jefferson Smurfit Corporation in 1987 as assistant treasurer and was appointed treasurer in 1990. He was promoted to vice president and treasurer in 1993. In 1994, Moore was named vice president and general manager of the company's Industrial Packaging division. He was promoted to vice president and chief financial officer of Jefferson Smurfit Corporation in October 1996. He continued in that capacity when Smurfit-Stone was formed in November 1998. In January 2002, Moore was named president and chief executive officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He was elected to the additional post of chairman on May 8, 2003. Prior to joining the company, Moore served 12 years at Continental Bank in Chicago in various corporate lending, international banking, and administrative positions. Moore serves on the boards of American Forest & Paper Association, JP Morgan's National Advisory Board, International Corrugated Case Association, Sustainable Forestry Board, Metropolitan YMCA of St. Louis, Boys Hope/Girls Hope, Big Shoulders (Chicago), and Archer Daniels Midland; and also serves on the NASDAQ CEO Council and Washington University John M. Olin School of Business National Council. He participates in numerous associations including Civic Progress (St. Louis) and The Commercial Club of Chicago. He earned a BS degree in business administration from DePaul University, with a concentration in finance. He lives in St. Louis with his wife Beth and three children.

Mary Motlow
Mary Motlow is Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Cumberland Springs Land Company, Inc., a family owned forest and agricultural company engaged in sustainable forestry practices, agribusiness and wildlife management. Mary is also the managing partner of Cedar Tree Enterprises, a forest land and wildlife management area. She is a member of the Alabama Forestry Association, a legislative committee member of the Tennessee Forestry Association, Forest Landowners Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Quality Deer Management Association, The Tennessee Bankers Association, and the Motlow State Community College Development Executive Board. She is a Tennessee State certified tree farmer and a master logger. She lives on her farm in Lynchburg, Tennessee and raises registered Angus and Gelbvieh cattle.

Steven R. Rogel
Steven R. Rogel is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Weyerhaeuser Company, an international forest products manufacturing company. He was elected Chairman on April 20, 1999. Prior to assuming the title of chairman, Rogel served as president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors since December 1, 1997. In 1966, he began his career with St. Regis Paper Company, where he worked until 1970. From 1970 to 1972, he was assistant manager at St. Anne-Nackawic Pulp and Paper in Nackawic, N.B., Canada. He joined Willamette in 1972 as technical director at the company's operations in Albany, Ore. He was named president and chief executive officer of Willamette in 1995, and served in that position until joining Weyerhaeuser Company in December 1997. Rogel received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1965 from the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed the executive education programs at Dartmouth College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1982 and 1989, respectively. He serves on various boards, including the American Forest & Paper Association and the World Forestry Center. He is a director of the Kroger Company, Union Pacific Corporation, Vice President of Administration for the Western Region Boy Scouts of America, co-chair of the Wood Promotion Network and a trustee of Pacific University.

Laurie A. Wayburn
Laurie A. Wayburn is the co-founder and President of the Pacific Forest Trust, whose mission is to preserve, enhance and restore America¹s private forests, sustaining their many public benefits. Ms. Wayburn has 25 years experience in conservation-based sustainable development, nationally and internationally. She serves currently on the Land Trust Alliance and Sustainable Forestry Boards and has served on those of numerous entities to further conservation and forest stewardship. These include the Seventh American Forest Congress, The University of California Center for Forestry, The Oregon Board of Forest Incentives Group, the US Man and Biosphere Committee for Biosphere Reserves and The Compton Foundation. Ms. Wayburn is a frequent writer and speaker on the topic of private forest conservation and incentives therefore, and most recently co-authored "America¹s Private Forests: Status and Stewardship," (Island Press 2001).

Steve Williams
Steve Williams is the President of the Wildlife Management Institute, a non-profit scientific and educational organization dedicated to providing leadership to conserve, restore, and enhance North American wildlife and their habitat. Prior to serving in this role, Steve was the Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service within the Department of the Interior. He has also held the positions of Secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Deputy Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and Assistant Director for Wildlife and Deer Project Leader for the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Steve received a Ph.D. in Forest Resources from The Pennsylvania State University, a M.S. in Biology from the University of North Dakota and a B.S. in Environmental Resource Management from The Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife, Beth, reside in McLean, VA and Gardners, PA.
